How to send media in chat

Sending Photos and Videos

Sending an image from your camera:

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Select the 'Camera' option. This will open your phone's camera. 
  4. Switch between your front or back camera to take a picture.
  5. After taking a picture, you will be prompted to a preview screen where you can choose to either retake or use a photo. 
  6. When choosing to use a photo, you can select between the original or compressed photo. On this screen, you can also add a message to send with the photo.
  7. Once you are ready to send, click on the send (↑) icon.

Sending an image from your media gallery:

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. You should see a menu with the following options appear:
    • Camera
    • Media Gallery
    • Documents
    • Project
    • Location
    • Contact
    • Giphy
  4. Select the 'Media Gallery' option. This will open your phone's media gallery. 
  5. Select up to 8 images.
  6. After selecting your images, click on 'Add'.
  7. From here, you can choose between the original or compressed image(s). You can also choose to remove any selected images, and add a message to send with the image(s).
  8. Once you are ready to send, click on the send (↑) icon.

Sending an image from your files:

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. You should see a menu with the following options appear:
    • Camera
    • Media Gallery
    • Documents
    • Project
    • Location
    • Contact
    • Giphy
  4. Select the 'Documents' option. This will open the files in your phone.
  5. Select the image in your files that you would like to send.
  6. Once selected, you will be directed to a new screen, where you can add a text message to send with the image.
  7. Once you are ready to send, click on the send (↑) icon.

Sending Documents

Sending documents in chat:

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. You should see a menu with the following options appear:
    • Camera
    • Media Gallery
    • Documents
    • Project
    • Location
    • Contact
    • Giphy
  4. Select the 'Documents' option. This will open the files in your phone.
  5. Select the document you would like to send.
  6. Once selected, you will be directed to a new screen, where you can add a text message to send with the document.
  7. Click on the send (↑) icon.

Sending Audio

Sending audio files in chat:

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. You should see a menu with the following options appear:
    • Camera
    • Media Gallery
    • Documents
    • Project
    • Location
    • Contact
    • Giphy
  4. Select the 'Documents' option. This will open the files in your phone.
  5. Select the MP3 you would like to send.
  6. Once selected, you will be directed to a new screen, where you can add a title, artist name, cover photo. You can also preview the audio and add a message to send along with the MP3.
  7. Once you are ready to send, click on the send (↑) icon.

Note: You can choose to add a cover photo from your camera or photo library.

Sending Location

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Select the 'Location' option. This will open an Apple Maps for iOS devices or OpenStreet for Android devices.
  4. From here, you can either press down on a location in the map or enter an address in the search bar.
  5. After pinning a location, click 'Select'. The location should automatically be sent to the chat.

Note: You should be able to open and view the location you sent in a Google Map URL, within FYI.

Sending Gifs

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Select the 'Giphy' option. 
  4. Select a gif to automatically send in your chat. You can also search with phrases to find a gif that fits the situation!

Sending Voice Note

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Long press on the record icon at the bottom right of the screen. 
  3. While still pressing on the icon, record a voice message. Lift your finger when you would like to stop recording. To cancel a recording, swipe left while pressing down on the record icon. 
  4. After you are done recording, you can review the voice note by clicking the play (▶) icon or delete the voice note by clicking the red trash icon. 
  5. When you are ready to send the voice note, click on the send (↑) icon. 

Sending Contact Card

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Click on the add (+) icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Select the 'Contact' option. This will open the 'Select Contact' screen.
  4. Select a contact you would like to share. The contact card will automatically send in the chat. 

Note: A contact card contains a contact's name, profile picture, and phone number. You will see an option to send a message and make a call. If you open the contact card, you will be directed to the contact's details screen.
